Designations
An MBA from the DeGroote School of Business opens doors to a variety of career options and professional designations such as Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Management Accountants (CMA), Certified General Accountant (CGA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Business Valuator (CBV), Certified Health Executive, and others.
DeGroote MBA students can take advantage of a number of opportunities to fast-track the process of earning a professional designation.

The Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators and the DeGroote School of Business announced an alliance in September 2010. As a result, DeGroote MBA students in the Strategic Business Valuation (SBV) specialization who successfully complete V700 (Strategic Business Valuation) and V704 (Advanced Strategic Business Valuation) will be granted exemptions from two of the six required courses in the CICBV program toward earning the CBV designation. These two courses are considered acceptable exam preparation for the CICBV courses: Introductory Business and Securities Valuation, and Intermediate Business and Securities Valuation. |

The Management Accounting specialization of DeGroote’s MBA program provides candidates a fast-track to the CMA accreditation with courses recognized for CMA’s Strategic Leadership Program. Upon graduation canidates will write the case exam and complete the board report to complete the CMA accreditation. As well, DeGroote’s MBA program is an accredited CMA program. By completing specific accounting courses and achieving the grade requirement graduates will be granted exemption from the CMA entrance exam. |

By completing specific accounting courses graduates of DeGroote’s MBA programs have to take three additional courses to meet the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario’s 51-credit requirement. Graduates are then qualified to write the Core Knowledge Exam (CKE), attend the School of Accountancy (SOA), and complete the Uniform Evaluation (UFE) in their pursuit of the CA accreditation. |

Accounting courses in DeGroote’s MBA programs are recognized as Transfer Credits for CGA’s Foundation Studies, Advanced Studies, and the Public Practice option of Professional Studies (PACE level). Graduates may have to write challenge exam for specific courses in CGA’s Advanced and Professional Studies. All candidates must complete Issues in Professional Practice (PA1) and Strategic Financial Management (PA2) in their pursuit of the CGA accreditation. |

DeGroote recently announced an alliance with the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL). By collaborating, both CCHL and DeGroote will be better able to keep abreast of trends in health leadership and management and thus refresh their respective programs to ensure they are meeting the constantly evolving needs of health leaders. The alliance also allows DeGroote Health Services Management students to fast-track their Certified Health Executive designation while earning their MBA degree. |

DeGroote's SAP University Alliance Program facilitates the integration of Enterprise Resource Planning concepts within and amongst functional areas of the School. MBA students interested in SAP Certification in Business Integration have to successfully complete at least three SAP-supported MBA courses offered at McMaster University. After completing a minimum of three courses, students are entitled to take a two-week course offered by SAP Canada (University Alliance program) to obtain certification in SAP ”Business Integration”. In addition, students have to pass a test, administered by SAP Canada. |
