At the Centre for Business Career Development (CBCD), students are inspired to explore and achieve their career potential through the delivery of innovative excellence in three distinct areas:

1) Career Development

• CBCD facilitates a variety of inspirational and educational learning forums for Commerce students to equip themselves with the skills and tools necessary to confidently promote and market their brand to employers. Workshops include resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, on-campus recruitment and negotiation techniques.
• In addition to group activities, CBCD encourages students to utilize the expertise of CBCD's Relationship Managers for one-on-one coaching. Resume critiquing, mock interviews, cover letter review and job search strategies are just some of the services provided to students in a personalized setting.
• The DeGroote Mentor program focuses on a student's personal and professional development by matching students with senior business leaders to learn, connect, network and develop.
  
  

2) Strategic Employer Partnerships

• CBCD works to establish relationships with employers all over Canada to provide recruitment opportunities for Commerce full-time, graduate, summer and internship employment.

• Through OSCARplus (Online Student Career and Recruitment plus), McMaster's new online job posting system, students can easily view, apply and RSVP to various job postings and on-campus recruitment events hosted by our employer partners.

3) Experiential Learning

• The Commerce Internship program is a unique opportunity for third year Commerce students to gain work experience with an organization for 12 or 16 months.

 

Who has access to CBCD Career Development Services?

• All level Commerce students registered in 18 units or more per academic year.
