Transfer/Application from Ontario college

McMaster welcomes applications from students who have attended a College of Applied Arts and Technology. Applicants are considered on an individual basis. Generally speaking, advanced credit could be up to 30 units if you are a well-qualified graduate of a three-year program, and at least six units if you have completed two years and performed well, provided the college work is appropriate to your chosen university program. Applicants who have not completed a two or three-year college diploma are not eligible for admission based on college standing

Credit beyond this may be given on an individual basis where the college and university programs are in similar areas, and where your academic record warrants special consideration. In the granting of credit, attention will be given to:

  • your performance in the college program
  • the duration of the college program
  • the program taken at the college and the program to which entry is sought
  • your secondary school record

Applicants presenting a strong academic record may be considered for an early conditional offer of admission. Each case will be considered individually on its own merits for the program desired.

All applications must be submitted through the Ontario University Application Centre (www.ouac.on.ca) prior to June 1st.

Specific Requirements for Business

After Completion of a two-year diploma:

    • A cumulative GPA of 3.4 or better.
    • Ontario Math course (or equivalent) Grade 12 Advanced Functions (MHF4U) or Grade 12 Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus (prior to 2008), or successful completion of three Mathematics courses at the college level.
    • Successful applicants may receive up to 12 units of advanced credit.

After Completion of a three-year diploma:

  • A cumulative GPA of 3.4 or better.
  • Ontario Math course (or equivalent) Grade 12 Advanced Functions (MHF4U) or Grade 12 Advanced Functions and Introductory Calculus (prior to 2008), or successful completion of three Mathematics courses at the college level.
  • Successful applicants may receive up to 30 units of advanced credit.
  • Applicants could be accepted to the Commerce II program given they have completed the basics of the Business I program.

Since Business is a limited enrolment program, you will NOT be considered if you do not possess ALL the above-mentioned criteria. However, attainment of all the criteria does not guarantee transfer.
