What is the BizX international exchange program?

BizX is a formal exchange program available to both Undergraduate Commerce and MBA students. BizX involves outgoing students studying abroad in one of the program's 45 partner schools for one or two semesters, and incoming students studying here at McMaster.

Over 1000 students have already participated on an exchange through BizX. We encourage you to consider participating too!

Fact:
The BizX Program was founded in 1992. Its first partner school was the BI Norwegian Business School.

Why should I participate in an international exchange?

It has become increasingly important for individuals and organizations to compete in the international marketplace. The most successful business leaders of tomorrow will be those who are comfortable crossing national and cultural boundaries.

Through the BizX Program, you will develop a broader perspective of the world, which will help you to view challenges in a new way and prepare you for success in today's global economy.

Going abroad is an opportunity for you to distinguish yourself with your classmates. The BizX Program offers an unparalleled opportunity for immersion in another culture, often in another language. You will expand your global network and have experiences that will make you stand out with employers.

Furthermore, the experiences you will gain and the people that you will meet will be unforgettable! Don’t take our word for it. Read what our students have to say about their exchange experience.

What did you learn from your exchange experience?

There were many things I experienced on exchange, but the main take away for me was to always have an open mind, be willing to travel to new places, and meet as many people from different backgrounds as possible. That has left with me a global network of connections that I have made over five months. Read more

  • An exchange offers you a once in a lifetime opportunity to immerse yourself in a different culture and lifestyle while studying for your degree.
  • An exchange is also an opportunity to prove to yourself that you can handle life on your own and maybe learn a thing or two about yourself as well.

  • The people you meet through this program may be life changing.

This includes friends and colleagues that you study/travel with, or contacts that you may have never otherwise had the opportunity to network with.
