Student Profile

Nida Jabrani
2011 Returning student from Euromed Marseille Ecole de Management, France
What did you learn from your exchange experience?
I understood that in planning my future I did not have to limit myself to opportunities only in Canada. In addition, I learnt how to overcome challenges, manage and work with people from different backgrounds and cultures and take measured risks, all of which led to my success and survival in my new environment. Most importantly, I know now that nothing is impossible if I set my mind to it.
How has this opportunity impacted your studies? How will this affect your career?
This experience has made me more confident and clear in my future career goals. I now have experience and knowledge of foreign markets, have worked with business professionals from other parts of the World and have learnt about business topics from a European lens, which I wouldn’t have experienced otherwise. Furthermore, I was exposed to a new form of learning, in which the structure of my courses were very different from those I would take normally, and this change was good for gaining new perspectives and creativity.
What advice or suggestions would you give to future exchange students?
Go on exchange, it will be a life changing experience! However, prepare yourself by doing your research, go with an open mind and the willingness to try new things. Do not shy away from the challenges that a study abroad experience brings; be patient and persevere and you will overcome them and come back a more confident person.
