Ying Hong
Dr. Ying Hong specializes in research on the strategic role of human resource management in contributing to business competitive advantages, human resource management in different business contexts, how human resource systems operate, the linkage between human resource management and service excellence, and emotional intelligence in leadership. She recently completed her Ph.D. dissertation in which she examined the role of efficiency-oriented, reliability-oriented, and flexibility-oriented HR systems, as well as the differentiation of these systems among different employee groups, in creating heterogeneous strategic service capabilities of hotels.
Dr. Hong’s work has appeared in such refereed journals as Journal of Applied Psychology and Human Resource Management Review, in edited books such as The SAGE Handbook of Organizational Behavior, The SAGE Handbook of Human Resource Management, and Battleground Business Series, as well as in best paper proceedings of the Academy of Management meetings in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Her research has been presented at other international conferences including American Psychological Association and Canadian Psychological Association meetings. She received the 2007 Juran Dissertation Fellowship (US $10,000) from the Joseph M. Juran Center at the University of Minnesota, which was in recognition of her scholarly distinction and career promise for leadership in quality.
