Research Chairs
The DeGroote School of Business faculty includes a number of world-renowned experts in their fields, and each instructor is selected for their specialized teaching skills and their ability to generate new business knowledge.
Canada Research Chair in Organizational Behaviour and Performance
The Canada Research Chairs Program helps Canadian universities attract and retain the world’s best researchers. The University currently boasts 67 Canada Research Chairs, with one in the DeGroote School of Business. Human Resources professor Rick Hackett holds DeGroote’s CRC. Hackett is studying the links between leadership, work attitudes and performance within the nursing profession.
Teresa Cascioli Chair in Entrepreneurial Leadership
Announced in December 2007, this chair is the result of a $1-million donation by McMaster alumna and former Lakeport CEO Teresa Cascioli. Benson Honig, the chairholder, will conduct research on current issues in entrepreneurship, teach entrepreneurship courses and assist in the development of future programs in entrepreneurship.
Wayne C. Fox Chair in Business Innovation
This chair was created by a $1 million donation by McMaster alumnus Wayne Fox. The chair, which is currently held by Dr. Joseph Tan, makes important contributions in eBusiness and in the general area of Business Innovation research.
AIC Chair in Investment and Portfolio Management
This chair was created as part of a $5-million gift from AIC Group of Funds, Canada's largest privately held mutual fund company. The chair, which is currently vacant, contributes significantly to the general body of business knowledge, with a specific focus on business valuation, and resulting impact on investment strategy and portfolio management.
CIBC Chair in Financial Markets
This chair is the result of a $1 million donation by CIBC. The CIBC Chair studies portfolio analysis, investments, financial theory and financial education, bringing together academic researchers, industry practitioners and business students. This chair is currently vacant.
DeGroote seeks funding for ten new research chairs
Leadership, ethics and innovation are the guiding themes behind the strategic plan to advance the DeGroote School of Business to even higher levels of achievement.
The plan involves three key areas: producing excellent and influential research; offering high quality, innovative educational programs; and building productive and enduring relationships within the school and throughout the community.
Ten new Chairs will contribute to meeting these goals. These Chairs specialize in areas critical to today's business environment.
