ACHIEVE Case Competition 2018
Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, ACHIEVE is Canada’s premier undergraduate accounting conference hosted by one of the most distinguished and largest business schools, the Ted Rogers School of Management. Since it’s inception, ACHIEVE has been designed to further the personal and professional development of accounting students, as they grow into future business leaders in the accounting industry.
About the Competition
Case Part #1 – Investigation and Probing Interview
Two members of each team will partake in a 5-minute investigational interview to gain additional background information to assist their team in Part #2 of the case. Prior to ACHIEVE, delegates will be sent information and will be given direction and time to prepare questions to ask “the client” during the 5-minute interview. The session will end with direct feedback from the industry professional (“the client”) on their analytical and communication skills, which will also help them during Part #2. Teams will be rewarded points for their performance and professionalism which will be added to their overall case score.
Case Part #2 – CFE-style 90 minute case
All teams will be allotted 90 minutes to solve the case and prepare a professional 20-minute PowerPoint presentation. Presentations must include analysis and appropriate recommendations. As a continuation of Part #1, the case will incorporate a compelling business scenario designed to test the delegates’ application of accounting concepts and principles to solving real-world issues. Teams will be assigned a spacious, light filled breakout room which faces the Ted Rogers School of Management open courtyard to work on their case analysis and presentation preparation.
The winning team will be awarded the grand prize of $2,000 and have their school name engraved onto the ACHIEVE trophy to memorialize their achievement.
