Description

Join the DeGroote Women’s Professional Network for our last cocktail networking event of the season on May 30th at the Ron Joyce Center in Burlington.

Sybil Verch, TV Host, Author, and Senior Vice President at Raymond James, presents on the power of networking and how to leverage your connections to build resources and gain attention within your organization.

Sybil will sit down with Rebecca Repa ’90, Vice President, Clinical Support Services & Community Surgery, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHSC), for an illuminating discussion on how women can benefit from their social network.

And don’t rush off! Join us for cocktails, desserts, and additional networking time with fellow members of the DWPN.

This event is open to alumni, business community members, and students.

Sybil lives by this motto and took charge of her own destiny at a young age. A self-proclaimed numbers nerd, and always one to work hard in the face of challenges, Sybil is conquering the once male dominated financial services industry. Sybil’s financial expertise has been highlighted in many publications such as The Globe and Mail and Investment Executive. She has climbed the corporate ladder to become SVP, National Director of Wealth Management for the largest independent brokerage firm in North America. She is committed to increasing financial literacy in Canada, which led her to produce and host The Wealthy Life, a nationally aired financial talk show helping Canadians make smarter financial decisions.

With a deep seeded drive to empower women, Sybil authored The Female Edge; a book that inspires women to set new goals for themselves, overcome obstacles and live a life with purpose. Through mentorship, sponsorship, charitable support to non-profits and speaking engagements, Sybil looks to change the status quo and empower women to seize opportunities. A sought after and engaging speaker, Sybil shares her wisdom using personal stories, optimism and energy to connect with audiences.

Sybil is positive, optimistic, enthusiastic and believes you can accomplish whatever your heart desires.

Moderator: Rebecca Repa ’90, Vice President, Clinical Support Services & Community Surgery, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHSC)

Rebecca Repa is the Vice President of Clinical Support Services & Community Surgery, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHSC). Her portfolio includes responsibility for Perioperative and Endoscopy services, Pharmacy, the Regional Laboratory Program and Diagnostic Imaging.

Prior to joining HHS in 2010, Rebecca led capital redevelopment at St. Joseph’s Healthcare, including St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre and Stedman Community Hospice in Brantford, the Innovation Tower at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton, and the development of new diagnostic imaging, operating room and central processing space. In addition, Rebecca oversaw the planning of the total rebuild at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton’s West 5th Campus, home to the regional specialized Mental Health Services for Central South service.

A graduate of McMaster University, Rebecca has an Honours Degree in Psychology and a Masters of Business Administration from the Michael G. DeGroote School of Business. A firm believer in ongoing learning and the sharing of knowledge, she has taught Health Marketing and Health Strategy at the Schulich School of Business and the DeGroote School of Business.

A long time advocate and supporter of community volunteerism, Rebecca is the past Chair of the YMCA of Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford; and was also involved in governance activities with the International Outreach Program for St. Joseph’s System and Board Member for Albright Long Term Care. She has a keen interest in Executive Coaching and the coaching of young people. She enjoys participating in the various student events at the DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University.
