What is Eid al-Fitr?
Eid al-Fitr is a religious holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide that marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. This Eid is one of the two important Eid celebrations in the Muslim faith. Fasting during Ramadan goes beyond the physical and is about purifying the mind and spirit as well.

How Eid al-Fitr is celebrated?
Muslims usually celebrate Eid al-Fitr by:

  • praying and exchanging greetings and gifts with family and friends
  • donating to charities and helping the financially disadvantaged people
  • wearing new clothes and accessories
  • feasting on traditional dishes and sweets

How to greet someone who is celebrating Eid al-Fitr?
A common greeting to wish other Muslims well during Eid al-Fitr is “Eid Mubarak,” meaning “blessed Eid.”
