Futures Fund Scholarship

Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year established the Futures Fund Scholarship for Outstanding Leadership to honour and mentor ten Canadian university business students each year who have demonstrated exemplary leadership in their academic and extra-curricular initiatives. The award program provides these ten exceptional and deserving students with grants to further their educational ambitions. Each year ten schools are chosen to receive the scholarships and this year DeGroote was selected to participate!

Sue McCracken, Manish Verma and Jennifer McCleary will review applications and select the scholarship recipient based on their achievements and demonstrated leadership initiatives in their academic and extracurricular activities.

DeGroote’s scholarship recipient will receive:

  • Scholarship grant funds in the amount of $10,000
  • Attendance at Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the Year Award Gala Dinner on May 3
  • Attendance at a leadership session and special reception held in honour of the 10 scholarship students on May 2
  • Transportation within Canada to Toronto, and two nights hotel stay
  • Recognition in the National Post newspaper, as well as gala program material and on Canada’s Outstanding CEO of the year website and social media

Eligibility:

  • You have demonstrated exemplary leadership in both academic pursuits and extracurricular initiatives
  • You are of Canadian citizenship
  • You will be enrolled as a full time undergraduate or graduate student in a Business degree program at the time of the May 2 and 3  celebration events
    • Note: attendance at the celebration events on May 2 and 3 is mandatory

Application requirements: 

  • Apply by Sunday, January 22 at 11:59 pm (ET)
  • Email your application to mba.studentexperience@mcmaster.ca with the subject line “Futures Fund Scholarship for Outstanding Leadership Application – FirstName LastName”
  • Your application must include:
    • First and last name
    • Program
    • Level of Study
    • Transcript (does not need to be an official transcript, just a summary of grades to date)
    • Expected graduation date (students graduating in June 2023 qualify)
    • Resume
    • Cover Letter (that demonstrates your leadership activities in academics and outside the classroom)
    • Written confirmation that if selected you will attend the celebration events in Toronto on May 2 and 3
