Looking for Advisors for the 24-Hour Case | Jan 22-23

| January 7, 2021
Submitted by Sandie Kantor

The third annual 24-Hour Case will be hosted virtually this year on Friday, January 22 and Saturday, January 23. This is a great opportunity for all first-year students to collaborate, brainstorm and problem solve in assigned student groups over a 24-hour period.

The Student Experience team is seeking Level III & IV volunteers to act as Advisors. Advisors must be available to answers questions from their assigned first-year groups on Discord during (a minimum of two) of the following timeslots (EST):

Fri, Jan. 22 | 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Sat, Jan. 23 | 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Sat, Jan. 23 | 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.

What is the criteria for an Advisor?

The Advisor is a key support available to first-year students completing the 24-Hour Case.
Advisors will help first-year students better understand budgeting and financial planning. Your second & third year Finance courses will give you the requisite knowledge.
Advisors should ideally available for two of the three timeslots.
Please note: Advisors will answer student questions and direct them to resources. They cannot create any presentations, tell students what to include in their presentations or complete the activity for any student group.

If you are interested in being an Advisor, click here to fill out a quick application by Friday, January 15 at 11:59 p.m. (EST).

Please note:

Being an Advisor requires your full name to be shared with your specific group.
If you are selected as an Advisor, you will be notified no later than Monday, January 18 and provided step-by-step instructions on how to join and use Discord, as well as receive an invitation to a Discord training session.
You will receive the case details and all supporting documentation to effectively execute the Advisor role.

If you have any questions about the application process, please email Jennifer McCleary (jmcclea@mcmaster.ca) or Nidia Cerna (cernan@mcmaster.ca).

Thank you for your time and interest in supporting our first-year students’ DeGroote experience!
