Meet Arpan Bassi, Academic Advisor:

What do you do and how long have you been at DSB? As an academic advisor, I aim to educate, motivate and inspire undergraduate students enrolled in Commerce and Integrated Business and Humanities to believe in their abilities and intuition in order to achieve immense success in their academic performance and professional development. I aid in decision-making processes and develop recommended solutions pertaining to academic degree requirements, missed coursework, academic accommodations and much more. My approach is centered around implementing specialized strategies and methodologies to meet students’ individual needs.

What is the best piece of advice you would give a new student? Remember to review program course requirements by visiting the academic calendar and to be cognizant of the resources and support services available at McMaster to help you succeed. Discipline and consistency are the bridges between goals and accomplishments. Lastly, keep in mind that the universe is full of infinite opportunities, possibilities and abundance and that we all have the ability to effortlessly attract our desired reality.

What is your favourite hobby? Going to the gym to workout.

What is your favourite book or podcast? Some of my favourite podcasts include The Mindset Mentor, Huberman Lab and The Doctor’s Farmacy with Mark Hyman, M.D. My recommendation when listening to podcasts, reading books and/or information posted online is to conduct your own research. Also in order to do what is right for you, focus on listening to your mind, body and soul.
