Submitted by Karina Almeida for Student Experience - Academic

The Career and Professional Development (CPD) team delivers innovative excellence in three key areas: Career Development, Strategic Employer Partnerships, and Experiential Learning. The team supports BCom, MBA, MFin, and MSc in eHealth students in securing summer, co-op, internship, and new grad job opportunities during their full-time studies at DeGroote.

Meet Brooke Russell, Relationship Manager:

What do you do and how long have you been at DSB? I joined the CPD team in October 2019 and I work with students to help develop their professional skills through Commerce 2IN0, provide coaching in various recruitment topics, act as a liaison between students and employers in internship, as well as aiding in summer and full-time and new-graduate recruitment.

What is the best piece of advice you would give a new student? Be confident in who you are as a candidate and what makes you stand out regardless of your experience in the field. Technical skills can be learned, but it’s up to you to show you’re open to learning them!

What is your favourite ice cream flavour? PC Candy Cane Ice cream!

What is your favourite food to bring for lunch at work? Any kind of wrap – buffalo chicken and turkey/brie are my favourites though.

Other fun fact about yourself you would like to share with our students? Guilty pleasure is watching the Bachelor/Bachelorette – have seen every season!
