There are many ways to receive support from the Student Success Centre’s (SSC) Academic Skills team.

  • Private appointment bookings on OSCARplus:
    • Academic Coaches: upper year students are trained to support your development in areas such as time management, studying and test-taking, and note-taking
    • Writing Advisors: help you become a better writer in all disciplines and writing formats (not an editing service)
    • Educational Staff: if you are struggling this term, come take a deeper look at learning processes and co-create action plans to meet your academic goals
  • Need a tutor? Want to be a tutor?
    • Visit mcmaster.tutorocean.com
    • All tutors have earned an A- or above in the course
    • Rates are $15-$20/hour
    • Review key concepts
      • Tutors cannot help with graded assignments or tests
  • Wednesday Workshops and Virtual Study Sessions (general and course specific versions)
    • Register on OSCARplus and take away some practical strategies to thrive this term
      • Special Events: Research and Writing Week, Research and Writing Week: International Students Edition, Academic Reboot, “How To” Workshops: International Students, Late Night Study Session and Succeeding in STEM Week
