The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University recently adopted a new strategic plan with a mission to foster inter-disciplinary thinking and evidence-based management to transform business and society. We are one of six faculties at McMaster and we believe in experiential learning: complementing classroom studies with hands-on experience. The school has over 2,300 undergraduate students, 600 MBAs, 60 PhDs and 70 full-time faculty members.

We also host three research centres and eight research chairs that contribute to the prosperity of society at large and provide value to business. We operate at two campuses, the McMaster University main campus in Hamilton, Ontario and a new state-of-the-art facility in nearby Burlington, Ontario, which houses the MBA and executive programs. Hires can be expected to be active at both locations; teaching undergraduate and post-graduate courses as well as in our professionally oriented executive development programs.

Health Policy and Management – Tenure Track Position – Assistant Professor Level

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor rank in the Area of Health Policy and Management. The appointment is intended to commence July 1, 2018 although earlier or later appointment dates may be possible.

Candidates will have a PhD in Health Policy and Management, or a related field such as Organizational Behaviour, Information Systems, Human Resources, Strategic Management or Health Research Methodology, with demonstrated scholarly and applied interests in: the health needs of special populations (e.g., rural, remote, indigenous and/or aging populations); health care services design, development and delivery; and an ability to teach a broad range of courses from a health care management perspective.

Candidates will have demonstrated competency in research initiatives and outcomes, including peer-reviewed journal publications, conference presentations, and securement of grants. Evidence of excellence in teaching is also required as well as the potential to make contributions to teaching and supervision in our PhD program, our undergraduate, MBA and MHM programs as well as the School’s professionally oriented executive development programs.

Mackenzie Investments Chair in Evidence-Based Investment Management

The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for a position in the Finance and Business Economics Area to be filled at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure. The position will commence on July 01, 2017. The successful candidate will hold the Mackenzie Investments Chair in Evidence-Based Investment Management and will be expected to contribute to research and scholarship through publications in high quality journals in financial economics, participation in prominent national and international academic conferences, and research guidance in his/her area/s of expertise. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the School’s academic programs at both its Hamilton and Burlington locations, to participate in executive education programs, and support the School’s initiatives within the business community. The appointment to the chairship will be for an initial five-year period, with the possibility of renewal for additional terms. Salary is commensurate with experience.

The Finance and Business Economics Area is committed to excellence in both research and teaching, and is one of eight Areas comprising the DeGroote School of Business. The School offers a number of programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The Finance and Business Economics Area participates in these programs in a number of ways, including MBA specializations in Finance and Strategic Business Valuation, Master of Finance, and a Ph.D. field in Finance. For hiring at the rank of Assistant Professor, we are seeking an individual with a PhD with concentrated studies in Human Resources Management or Organizational Behaviour, preferably with expertise or demonstrated research capability in data analytics and/or leadership. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching and supervision in our PhD program and to teaching in our undergraduate, MBA, and executive development programs, including EMBA. Courses that the successful candidate will be expected to teach include a subset of the following: organizational behaviour, human resources management, management skills development, negotiation, leadership, HR analytics, and Strategic Human Resources
Planning.

If hiring at the rank of Associate Professor, we are seeking an individual with a strong program of research in Strategic/Macro Human Resources Management, Organizational Theory, or Meso Organizational Behaviour. Candidates for this position should possess a PhD in a relevant discipline. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching and supervision in our PhD program and to teaching in our undergraduate, MBA, and executive development programs, including EMBA.
