The Government of Canada is taking action to further improve the safety and security of Canada’s rail system, especially in light of the impacts of climate change and severe weather on railway operations. Canada is providing over $100 million over five years for Transport Canada to advance the safe and secure transportation of people and goods by rail.

Associate Professor Manish Verma has been researching multimodal transportation of dangerous goods, risk assessment, network design, and planning issues in transportation for over 15 years. He talks more about the importance of risk assessment and management when supporting the safer transportation of dangerous goods.
