Business Education Accreditation

The DeGroote School of Business is one of 41 international business schools to earn an extended accreditation this year from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), a distinction achieved by less than five percent of the world’s business schools.

Stephanie M. Bryant, executive vice president and chief accreditation officer of AACSB says “Every AACSB-accredited school has demonstrated a focus on excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curricula development, and student learning. The intense peer-review process exemplifies their commitment to quality business education.”

The AACSB is the premier accrediting association of business schools and accounting programs worldwide

DeGroote is proud to be recognized for our achievements in strategic management and innovation; our active student, faculty, and staff community; excellence in teaching and learning; and for our robust tradition of academic and professional engagement. As outgoing dean, I am pleased that DeGroote’s many strengths as a top business school have been recognized by the foremost accreditation association in the world,” says outgoing dean, Len Waverman.
The DeGroote School of Business has earned a global reputation as a leader in research, teaching, and community-building – especially in healthcare management and digital innovation. Despite the challenges of a pandemic year, we continued to provide transformative education to our students and community partners, in and out of the classroom. Our success in these efforts places DeGroote among the leaders in business education today and our AACSB re-accreditation confirms this,” says incoming dean, Khaled Hassanein.

DeGroote’s undergraduate and graduate business programs develop leaders who think big, explore new possibilities, act with integrity, and embrace change. Its research is leading-edge, interdisciplinary, and focused on transforming business and society.

Rigorous accreditation process

Accreditation is a voluntary, multi-year process that institutions elect to undergo as a public demonstration of educational quality driven by outcomes-focused student success. Led by Dr. Anna Danielova, Associate Dean, Faculty Affairs and Accreditation, DeGroote’s AACSB submission included a detailed review of program and organizational data; interviews with staff, faculty, students, and alumni; and a virtual facility tour, among other requirements. Accreditation provides assurances that an institution meets or exceeds established standards and graduates students who achieve the stated learning outcomes in preparation to enter the global marketplace.
