Meet Your BCom CPD Team – featuring Chantal Godin

The Career and Professional Development (CPD) team delivers innovative excellence in three key areas: Career Development, Strategic Employer Partnerships, and Experiential Learning. The team supports BCom, MBA, MFin, and MSc in eHealth students in securing summer, co-op, internship, and new grad job opportunities during their full-time studies at DeGroote.

Meet Chantal Godin, Relationship Manager:

What do you do and how long have you been at DSB? My job is to support you in your career development throughout your BCom journey. You’ll see me on campus as an instructor for Commerce 2IN0, providing 1:1 career coaching sessions, facilitating Career Workshops, and attending recruitment events on and off campus! My goal is to ensure each student has the knowledge, resources, and support to achieve success in their unique pathways. I have been with DSB for approximately 1.5 years but as an alum of McMaster – I have been a Marauder for over a decade!

What is the best piece of advice you would give a new student? Reflect often and be curious always! Every student has a diverse range of experiences, values, interests, and motivators that drive their ambition. Take the time to determine what you would like to gain from your time a DeGroote. Seek out new opportunities and leverage key lessons from each experience. This will help guide you in crafting (and navigating) your unique career pathway. Lastly, remember the CPD team is here to support you!

What is your favourite Hamilton location to visit or restaurant to eat at? Mulberry Coffeehouse on James Street North, you have to try their ‘Hello, Sailor” bars!

What is one thing from your bucket list you hope to do next year? Go backcountry camping/portaging next summer – location/park suggestions are welcome!

Other fun fact about yourself you would like to share with our students? I am a huge board game/card game enthusiast. Currently, I am the reigning ‘Catan’ and RISK champion of my social circle!
