| November 30, 2023
Submitted by Ericka Wagner for McMaster University

The Fall 2023 exam period is from Friday, December 8 to Thursday, December 21.

If you face any type of internet connectivity issues or become disconnected during an exam, please contact your instructor directly and immediately.

If you cannot complete your final exam during the scheduled date and time, please fill out a Deferred Examination Form and email the form to the Student Experience Office at

What you need to know:

  • You have 24 hours from the date of the missed exam to complete this process.
  • If your request is approved, your deferred exam must be written during the next deferred exam period (Tuesday, February 20 to Friday, February 23).
  • You are required to write this deferred exam in the same format it was provided (i.e., Avenue 2 Learn, Respondus) during the deferred exam period. No further accommodation will be made regarding the completion of this course component.
  • To write your approved deferred exam at an institution other than McMaster, you will need to submit a Request to Write Deferred Examination Off-Campus form at least 15 working days prior to the start of the deferred exam period. Any fees incurred are your responsibility. This includes the fee to courier the written exam(s) back to the Office of the Registrar.

If you have any questions about your final exam schedule or have concerns about missing a final exam, please email
