Today brands are willing to stand up for social and environmental issues. EA recently included Colin Kaepernick in its latest Madden NFL video game. Uncle Ben’s is now renamed to Ben’s. Patagonia has escalated its rhetoric against the Republican party. How do we account for this shift? Do brands risk alienating their consumers by taking such strong positions on social issues? What has changed? Assistant Professor Chris Ling discusses.
