Job Posting – CPD Senior Career Mentor – Apply Now!

The Senior Career Mentor will work in partnership with the Student Experience, Career and Professional Development (SE-CPD) team to oversee and administer the Career Mentor Program (CMP). The CMP was developed to actively assist students with their career aspirations and learning goals through peer advising, workshops and outreach.

Under the general guidance and direction of the Career & Professional Development Relationship Managers, the Senior Career Mentor coordinates engagement of approximately 15 student career mentors in Commerce 2IN0, the career development course and other career development activities.

The Career Mentor Program (CMP) was developed to actively assist students with their career aspirations and learning goals through peer advising, workshops and outreach. CMP is comprised of one Senior Career Mentor and a team of Career Mentors who foster active career engagement within the DeGroote BCom community.

Senior Career Mentors will also provide services in the following ways:

In the Fall term, they will support Level 3 students as they navigate the BCom with internship program by reviewing resumes and cover letters, analyzing job postings, and providing mentorship experiences.

In the Winter term, the role involves supporting students registered in Commerce 2IN0 through in-class facilitation of mock interviews, networking sessions, and foundational resume/cover letter assistance.

Additionally, CMs will aid and promote the many professional development events offered through CPD including, but not limited to: Networking Evenings, Fall Preview, and Mock Interview Night, and other marketing strategies as required.

Commerce 2IN0 is a career development course focused on equipping Level 2 students with the tools necessary for a successful summer job search, with the opportunity to apply for the internship program once they return in the fall of 3rd year.
