The BCom Academic team is part of a larger DeGroote Student Experience team that you will get to know during your time in the program. We can assist you with program options, course selection, missed coursework, experiential opportunities, and more!

Meet Karina Almeida, Academic Advisor:

What do you do and how long have you been at DSB?  I have been with DeGroote since March 2021. My mission is to offer the best possible advice to BCom and IBH students so they can make informed decisions in their academic lives. I help students understand their program requirements and University policies. I also help them enroll in courses and provide them with information/assistance on various academic matters such as Exchange, LOP, Professional Designations, and student supports available at McMaster.

What is the best piece of advice you would give a new student? If you didn’t get a seat in your preferred course/section, don’t give up! Keep monitoring Mosaic. You can change your schedule until the last day for enrollment and course changes (drop/add).

What is your favourite hobby? Watching shows on TV or streaming services (Netflix, Amazon, etc).

What is a fun fact about yourself you would like to share with our students? I love learning new languages! I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish and I am currently studying French.
