Meet Your BCom CPD Team – Featuring Maddie Lad

The Career and Professional Development (CPD) team delivers innovative excellence in three key areas: Career Development, Strategic Employer Partnerships, and Experiential Learning. The team supports BCom, MBA, MFin, and MSc in eHealth students in securing summer, co-op, internship, and new grad job opportunities during their full-time studies at DeGroote.

Meet Maddie Lad, Relationship Manager, BCom:

What do you do and how long have you been at DSB? New year, new role! I recently joined the CPD team in January 2023 as a Relationship Manager, BCom. My role focuses on providing support and resources to BCom students in their career development journey. You’ll see me instructing Commerce 2INO, providing coaching sessions, facilitating workshops, attending various events and being a liaison between students and employers.

What is the best piece of advice you would give a new student? “Growth stems from being uncomfortable” – This is just the beginning of a new chapter in your journey, always be open and willing to put yourself out there, learn and soak in everything like a sponge and learn to take constructive feedback! Also, be your authentic and unique self and take advantage of all the resources DSB provides!

What is your favourite Ice Cream flavour! Mango, mint chocolate, cookies and cream!

What is one thing from your bucket list you hope to do this year? Visit an elephant sanctuary!

Other fun fact about yourself you would like to share with our students?
I’ve recently fell in love with Kdramas and have an addiction of binging them (Crash landing on you is an all-time fave), I love board games – especially those that require you to think or strategize like monopoly deal.
