The Career and Professional Development (CPD) team delivers innovative excellence in three key areas: Career Development, Strategic Employer Partnerships, and Experiential Learning. The team supports BCom, MBA, MFin, and MSc in eHealth students in securing summer, co-op, internship, and new grad job opportunities during their full-time studies at DeGroote.

Meet Nichola Johnson-Young, Manager, Employer Development:

What do you do and how long have you been at DSB? I have been employed at DeGroote for 18 months and I oversee the development and implementation of Employer Engagement strategies. I am focused on growing and continually enhancing DeGroote’s relationship with employers to ensure excellent career outcomes for our students. This involves having strategic discussions on how we can better support employer partners, understanding employer goals and recruitment plans, and sharing information on our programs and candidate pool to then form mutually beneficial relationships.

What is the best piece of advice you would give a new student? Stay true to yourself; allow your individuality and uniqueness to shine through.

What is one thing from your bucket list you hope to do next year? Learn to tap dance.

What is your favourite ice cream flavour? Pistachio.
