Submitted by Chris Gaspic for Marketing and Community Engagement

The DeGroote Discord community is a space for you to stay connected, even while we are apart.

If you haven’t already joined our virtual DeGroote campus on Discord, follow the steps in How to Join the DeGroote Discord Community.

Reason 1: BCom Welcome Desk

Do you have a quick general question for the BCom team? Nicole and Alexis are just a click away!

  • When: Daily: Monday – Friday
  • Time: 2 – 3:30 p.m. (EST)
  • Where: Discord channel #Bcom-desk-chat (text chat only) or BCom Welcome Desk (voice/video)
  • Please note: Do not share personal information (student numbers etc.,) on this channel. Book a Zoom appointment with an Academic Advisor if you need guidance on your specific situation.

2. Bi-weekly Academic Advising Spotlight

Every other week, drop into the Academic Advising Spotlight to learn more about an interesting academic theme, meet the BCom Academic Advisors and chat with other students!

  • When: To be confirmed – stay tuned!
  • Where: Discord channel #BCom Advisor Spotlight (under Drop-ins)
  • Past spotlights: Exchange, exams, academic options and preparing for graduation.

3. Bi-weekly #asksue

Associate Dean, Sue McCracken, opens up her “virtual” doors every week on the #ask-sue Discord channel to answer your questions on a variety of topics!

  • Every other Wednesday at 4 p.m.
  • Next Sessions: Jan. 27, Feb. 10, Mar. 3, Mar. 17, Mar. 31

BONUS: Did you REALLY think there were only three reasons? When you join us on Discord, you will also have access to these awesome channels:

  • #daily-headlines: Every morning, you’ll find three to four stories that have an impact on business, keeping you up-to-date on business news.
  • #promotions: Share your advertisements and promotions on Discord by submitting them to be posted
  • #dog-groote: Cute photos of all pets welcome!
  • Hangout rooms: Stop by a hangout room to chat or have some company while you work.
  • …and more! We are always looking for ways to grow and evolve our community for our students. We welcome your ideas in our #feedback channel.
